Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study is to examine how aluminum powder particle size impacts the detonation velocity, metal accelerating ability, and airblast pressure of small scale, pressed RDX based charges. New techniques were developed to measure metal acceleration and blast fireball temperature, and were published in the course of this work, to allow the capture of the data necessary to explore the behavior as a function of the aluminum particle size.
