Abstract/Summary:
The qualitative phenomenological research study used a narrative approach to examine how medical data and media exposure on the subject of football related concussions influenced Texas high school football coaches. Coaches were interviewed for their interpretations and opinions on the history and implications of football related concussions. The research examined information on the effects of football related concussions and what influences it may have on coaching decisions. Participants interviewed were analyzed following the Creswell (2012) six step method for analyzing phenomenological studies. The research presented in this study provides all individuals that are connected to the sport of football the opportunity to examine the research collected and gain new insight on the topic of football related concussions.
