Abstract/Summary:
This phenomenological narrative study investigated resiliency experiences among women in global educational leadership. The four questions that guided the research examined encountered resilience experiences regarding readjusting, enduring, readjusting with barriers, and enduring with barriers. The six participants were from the following countries: Finland, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Philippines, and South Korea. Their roles varied as some were professional educators and some were not; however, they all were considered educators for the purposes of this study since they each bore responsibility for developing, creating, or implementing educational programs for younger generations. The major findings in this study indicated that the participants utilized the following to develop, maintain, and sustain resiliency: drawing on faith, finding support, and focusing on planning and expectations. Some of the implications for practice include: allowing for self-care, being adaptable, and staying positive.
