A Study Of Farewell Poems In The Tang Dynasty

Among the more than 50000 poems of Tang Dynasty,the number of poems about farewell is more than 5000,accounting for more than one tenth.It can be said that farewell is one of the most popular themes in Tang Dynasty.The artistic charm of farewell poems has been praised by later generations.Yan Yu said:"the good poems of Tang Dynasty are mostly works of garrison,banishment,travel and farewell,which can often move and inspire people’s feelings." Hu Shouzhi of the Qing Dynasty also said:"there are more Tang people than banishment,traveling and farewell."The prosperity of farewell poems in the Tang Dynasty not only benefited from the long history of the literary tradition of poetry,but also benefited from the popular farewell customs in the Tang Dynasty.Combing the development process of farewell poems before Tang Dynasty and studying farewell poems from the perspective of social life and poetry art can not only help us understand the great achievements of Tang poetry,but also help us to further understand the vivid life state of Tang people.This paper mainly includes eight chapters.The first chapter combs the evolution of farewell poems before Tang Dynasty.The emergence of farewell poems is related to the ceremony of ancestor road and drinking preserves in the pre-Qin period.The information of the origin of farewell poems can be found in the book of ShiJing and Chuci.Through the long historical process of Han,Wei,southern and Northern Dynasties,farewell poems have gradually grown into a creative motif with multiple themes and rich connotations,which has become a solid historical foundation of farewell poems in Tang Dynasty.The second chapter outlines the evolution of farewell poems in Tang Dynasty from a diachronic perspective.This chapter takes the "four Tang theory" as the stage,combined with the social background,the main body of creation,the style of poetry,poetry connotation,to explain the style and features of different stages of farewell poetry.The third chapter selects the palace farewell poems which the predecessors paid little attention to for a special study.As a space for poetry creation,the palace has the characteristics of extreme politics.Therefore,the creation of palace farewell poems shows the characteristics of resonance with the government.The fourth chapter discusses the characteristics of typical life in Farewell Poems from three angles of relegation,imperial examination and frontier fortress.The collision between them and farewell poetry has created a new field of poetry,and at the same time has made a breakthrough in the breadth of vision and emotional depth of farewell poetry.The fifth chapter takes farewell as a kind of social activity,and studies the interaction between social intercourse and farewell poetry from the perspective of social life.Social activities are the driving force for the creation of farewell poems and stimulate the creativity of poets.At the same time,many poems are stained with the characteristics of strong social intercourse,which leads to the decline of artistic value.This is the case with the farewell poems in Beijing.This chapter also analyzes the expression of heterogeneous emotions in the collective poetry activities by taking the series of poems of Fenghe sending Jincheng princess to Xi fan as an example.In the sixth chapter,by means of poetry and relevant historical records and prose materials,this paper.analyzes the popular culture of giving away gifts in Tang Dynasty.The sacrificial activities were respected by the emperors and the common people from the top to the bottom.They became both ceremonial and secular activities.There were rich details in the banquets of the Tang Dynasty,such as "the first song","good performance",the same topic competition and so on.In the Tang Dynasty,the banquet activities also compiled souvenirs to form a farewell poetry collection.The style of the poetry collection was influenced by the banquet activities.Chapter seven studies the style of preface related to farewell.There are different kinds of prefaces,such as gift preface,farewell preface,farewell preface and so on,which are closely or loosely related to farewell poems.The well-known preface to Tengwang Pavilion is a work created on banquet occasions.Its original name should be farewell preface to Tengwang Pavilion in Hongzhou in autumn.However,it is not a poem created at the same time,nor can it be linked with the preface.The Japanese version of zhengcangyuan can also prove these two conclusions.The eighth chapter is the thesis of three topics.The historical misreading and interpretation dilemma from "sending yuan Er Shi Anxi" to"yangguanqu" analyzes the relationship between "send yuan Er Shi Anxi"and "yangguanqu";the local writing of Tujing and farewell poems analyzes the influence of Tujing on farewell poems from the perspectives of local knowledge,reading experience of Tang people and local writing in farewell poems Song writing.Through the interpretation of poetry,the last section analyzes five farewell customs of Tang people,such as gifts,broken branches and climbing flowers,saying goodbye,weeping tears and boating,so as to get a glimpse of the poetic farewell life of Tang people.
