A Comparative Study Of Chinese And Thai Multiple Attributives In Teaching Chinese To Speakers Of Other Lunguages

Chinese attributive word order is usually “modifier + head”,while Thai attributive word order is usually “head + modifier”according to the online Corpus.This thesis makes a survey of the attributives in Chinese and Thai.Firstly,this thesis analyzes the similarities and differences of the word order of Chinese and Thai multiple attributes,and discusses the arrangement order,semantics and cognitive salience principle of Chinese and Thai multiple attributes.Then it analyzes the attributive words in Chinese and Thai and the corresponding problems of Chinese “de” in Thai.Then it makes a comparative analysis of specific cases,which respectively explores the problems of the comparison between the Chinese aspect and predicate elements as attributives and the Thai related sentence patterns.On the basis of the previous analysis,this thesis summarizes the rules of the order of Chinese and Thai attributes.With the help of comparative analysis,this thesis also discusses the Thai native speakers’ acquisition of multiple attributes in Chinese.By analyzing the factors that Thai native speakers are prone to acquire multiple attributes in Chinese,it concludes that there are several situations,such as negative transfer of mother tongue,limited learning of target language and insufficient teaching guidance.Among them,Thai students often have errors in the use of multiple attributes in Chinese,which is “number phrases”.Finally,The research results of this article provide some help and reference for Chinese learners,especially Thai students.
