| In academic discourse, the speaker does not always communicate with the audience in one identity, but through the negotiation of contextual factors, selects appropriate discourse resources and dynamically constructs different pragmatic identities to interact with the audience to meet the communication needs. This study takes Japanese oral academic discourse as the corpus and Adaptation Theory as the theoretical framework to explore the mechanism of speaker’s identity construction. It is found that the speaker constructs the identity of researcher, research partner and authoritative expert. The researcher’s identity reflects the speaker’s compliance with the institutional regulations, the research partner’s identity reflects the construction of intersubjectivity between the two sides of communication, and the authoritative expert’s identity reflects the construction of subjectivity. The strategy of researcher’s identity construction includes semantic content, discourse mode and discourse markers. Its construction process reflects the speaker’s adaptation to the audience’s psychological factors, social principles and physical factors, and finally realizes the speaker’s self presentation needs and the cognitive needs of both sides of communication. The strategy of studying the construction of research partner identity is mainly reflected in pragmatic empathy. Its construction is not only restricted by context, but also reflected in the reconstruction of context; The construction of research partner identity is influenced and driven by Japanese cultural values; The speaker constructs the research partner identity to achieve the communicative goals of evaluation, persuasion and so on.The strategy of constructing the identity of authoritative experts also includes semantic content and discourse mode. Its construction is restricted by the speaker’s positive face.At the same time, the speaker also needs to use discourse resources to strengthen the unobvious authority given by his organization,so as to finally enhance his personal influence and realize the publicity and promotion of achievements. |
