Objective: The purpose of this paper is to promote the standardized research of postpartum emotional abnormalities in the name of disease, the connotation of traditional Chinese medicine, etiology and pathogenesis, etc.,to re-excavate and return the advantages of clinical treatment of traditional Chinese medicine,so that it is no longer limited to improving depression, and to provide theoretical basis and clinical reference for modern Chinese medicine scholars to study and treat postpartum emotional abnormalities. Methods: 1.Comparative research method. In this paper, several common names of this disease were compared and their advantages and disadvantages were analyzed.2.Literature research method. In this paper,a total of more than 140,000 words of ancient Chinese medicine literature related to postpartum emotional abnormalities were retrieved through keywords in databases such as TCMDOC and Chinese Medical Code, and they were proofread with modern point-based ancient books or rare ancient books.Taking this as the research threshold,a comprehensive and systematic traceability of postpartum emotional abnormalities was carried out.3.Historical research method.According to the classification of ancient diseases, the development process of postpartum aphasia, postpartum vexation, postpartum trance, postpartum palpitation, postpartum madness, postpartum suddenly seeing ghosts and gods in different historical periods was comprehensively and systematically sorted out,and the origin of ancient diseases and syndromes covered by postpartum emotional abnormalities and the characteristics and experience of doctors’ diagnosis and treatment were explored.4.Logic method. In this paper, the development process of the six ancient diseases covered by postpartum emotional abnormalities in the ancient literature of TCM was taken as a longitudinal study, and the evolution of disease name, etiology and pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and nursing were taken as a horizontal study. These two logical chains were constructed to present the treasures of ancient experience as comprehensively as possible. At the same time,on the basis of the etiology and pathogenesis of postpartum emotional abnormality,it was further summarized into a complete theoretical system, and the method of deduction was used to describe the development of doctors’ understanding of its etiology and pathogenesis in different periods.Results:1.The name of ’postpartum emotional abnormality’,which is named after the terminology and clinical syndromes of TCM,is easy to understand, and ’emotional abnormality’ is a unique clinical syndrome of TCM,which is semantically neutral and not easy to cause misunderstanding. At the same time,’postpartum’ and ’emotion’ are both terms of TCM,which have a strong charm of TCM and can better cover the related diseases and syndromes in ancient books of TCM.2.Postpartum emotional abnormalities occur in women after childbirth, and its pathogenesis has two situations: deficiency in origin and excess in superficiality. The root of ’deficiency in origin’ lies in the deficiency of qi and blood, while ’excess in superficiality’ is caused by blood stasis, phlegm turbidity, external evil, stagnant heat, emotional stimulation and overstrain. Its clinical characteristic is ’emotional abnormality’,and somatic symptoms can be seen.3.The ’qi deficiency’ of postpartum emotional abnormality is deficiency of qi and blood and deficiency of viscera, which is the root of the disease. On the basis of ’deficiency of qi’,tangible ’retention’ such as qi stagnation and blood stasis and pathological products, and intangible ’retention’ such as deficiency of fire, external evil and emotional stimulation are important links in the pathogenesis.4.There is no name of ’postpartum emotional abnormality’ in ancient medical books, which is often presented as ’postpartum aphasia’,’postpartum vexation’,’postpartum trance’,’postpartum palpitation’,’postpartum madness’,’postpartum suddenly seeing ghosts and gods’ and other names. However, these six ancient names have also experienced the process of naming the etiology and pathogenesis combined with the main symptoms into a single main symptom. Its etiology and pathogenesis are mostly due to deficiency which causes blood stasis, evil, heat, and spleen deficiency dampness phlegm, emotional stimulation or fatigue. It has the characteristics of the times. For example, before the Ming and Qing Dynasties,it was characterized by wind evil or deficiency evil.During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,it highlighted the importance of qi and blood deficiency; The characteristics of etiology and pathogenesis as evidence are highlighted;Inquiry, observation and pulse diagnosis are valued to assist doctors in clarifying the etiology and pathogenesis or judging the prognosis. The identification of similar diseases is also emphasized to prevent misdiagnosis and mistreatment. Many physical symptoms have also been recorded. The treatment is not limited to decoction, but also combined with diet therapy, acupuncture and moxibustion. The treatment is flexible, often based on the main pathogenesis. The treatment of patients with deficiency in origin is tonifying qi and blood, spleen and stomach or to nourish yin and yang of kidney. The treatment of patients with excess in superficiality is promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, clearing heat and resolving phlegm, and tranquilizing and tranquilizing, etc. The treatment of patients with syndrome of intermingled deficiency and excess is both attack and supplement; The choice of prescriptions is rich, including Bazhen Decoction,Guipi Decoction,Liujunzi Decoction,Shiquan Dabu Decoction,Chaihu Qinggan Powder,Zaoren Wendan Decoction,Qilinjie Powder, etc.;In terms of medication, before the Ming and Qing Dynasties, wind medicine and gold stone drugs were mostly used.During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, more tonic drugs were used;Postpartum nursing and maintaining maternal mentality are valued to play a certain preventive role.Conclusion:1.’Postpartum emotional abnormality’ is suitable for becoming a unified and standardized disease name for such diseases; The connotation of postpartum emotional abnormalities in TCM can be summarized as ’It is characterized by qi and blood deficiency after childbirth,or emotional abnormalities caused by blood stasis, phlegm turbidity, external evil, heat, emotional stimulation, and overstrain. And there are also physical symptoms of the disease.’;The theory of ’ stagnation of qi deficiency ’ can highly summarize the pathogenesis of postpartum emotional abnormalities in TCM.2.Postpartum emotional abnormality is not equivalent to postpartum depression in modern medicine. The content of its syndromes includes but is not limited to the manifestations of postpartum depression, and the contents of the six ancient diseases covered by it are rich. The treatment method is derived from the mechanism, and the treatment method and the mechanism correspond to each other,so that a more complete system of syndrome differentiation and treatment is formed. Therefore, the collation and excavation of it will help to get rid of the shackles of ’postpartum depression’ in modern medicine, make it not only improve the state of mental depression, but also return to the origin of TCM,highlight the thinking of TCM,and improve the curative effect of TCM.
