Research On Chinese Contemporary Fantasy Literature Under The Perspective Of Modernity

By the influence of the Western fantasy literature,especially "the Lord of the Rings" series,"Harry Potter" series,Chinese contemporary fantasy literature can be considered as the reaction to Hollywood culture industry which spread all over the world.If Hollywood cultural industry represents the "globalization" trend of fantasy literature,Chinese contemporary fantasy literature is "localization" in confronting this"globalization".Chinese contemporary fantasy literature is a product of China’s modernity.due to the particularity of Chinese modernity,Chinese contemporary fantasy literature contains pre-modernity,modernity and post-modernity at the same time.More specifically,Chinese contemporary fantasy literature has a ideological tendency of postmodernism,which is mainly presented by game-play,revelry,consumption and typification.It also has both characteristics of modernism and classicism,regards the former,it displays through the illusion of self,the alienation,counter-act the reality and world uglification;regards the latter,it displays through following of historical themes,simple character image,encouraging people to rationalism.The contemporary fantasy literature of China has a dual origin,which makes it present a mixture of different styles:illusion and realness,and full of characteristics of youth literature.It has its own unique creative strategy,represents the internal contradictions of Chinese contemporary fantasy literature,which partly reflects the spiritual structure of Chinese youth.Most of the research on Chinese fantasy literature did not pay enough attention to its postmodern process.They discussed a lot of the presence of Chinese traditional subjects,but ignored its nature of the combination of pre-modernity,modernity and post-modernity.In other words,the scholars so far have seen the "old bottle" but ignores its "new wine";They have seen the tradition of the subject but ignored its modern and post-modern spiritIn fact,Chinese contemporary fantasy literature is a special literary phenomenon in contemporary China.It mainly attempts to "embezzle" and "overcome" traditional culture and resources by means of reclassification of existing Chinese mythological archetypes.Chinese contemporary fantasy literature mainly displays on the screen in the form of film and television,yet academia have not paid enough attention,this special literature phenomenon,characteristic and creative strategy system are not fully discussed.It is necessary to do more research,which will effectively enhance our Chinese contemporary fantasy literature reading and understanding.Surely it will be more effective in promoting Chinese contemporary fantasy literature research and making great contribution to this field.
