| Chen Yingzhen,known as "Lu Xun of Taiwan",as a flag of Taiwan’s contemporary "left-wing" literary and ideological circles,is an indispensable figure in the history of Taiwan’s contemporary literature and ideology.Born in the period of Japanese colonial rule,his thoughts were stereotyped in the age of desolation caused by Taiwan’s "white terror" campaign;he experienced "westernization trend of thought","Chinese and Western culture debate","modern poetry debate" and "local literature debate";he devoted himself to Taiwan’s "left-wing" social movement,opposed "Taiwan independence",criticized "imperial literature",and founded "Human World" miscellaneous.He always pays attention to the people living at the bottom of Taiwan’s capitalist industrial and commercial development,criticizes the neo-colonialism represented by transnational corporations,and constructs a unique "third world" vision.The first chapter of the thesis explores the source of Chen Yingzhen’s left-wing literary thoughts,focusing on the following five aspects: Chen Yingzhen’s father’s "family and country feelings","underground" reading "red classics","inheriting Lu Xun’s left-wing thoughts","learning revolutionary party’s left-wing ideals and beliefs in prison" and "critical absorption of Christian doctrine".It is under the comprehensive influence of these five aspects that Chen Yingzhen’s left-wing literary thoughts are discussed.In Taiwan’s socio-political and economic environment without the soil for the survival and development of "left-wing" for more than half a century,Chen Yingzhen not only continued the mainland left-wing literary thought cut off for political reasons in Taiwan’s "underground",but also persevered in his left-wing ideal in Taiwan’s complex social environment,laying a solid rock for his left-wing thought.Chapter 2 analyses the origin of "westernization trend" in Taiwan since 1950 s,probes into the political,economic and cultural reasons why "modernism",the representative of "westernization trend",has become popular in Taiwan,and discusses Chen Yingzhen’s criticism of "modernism",while constantly pondering,constructing,maturing and perfecting his left-wing realistic literary thoughts.The idea of a system carries the banner of Taiwan’s left-wing ideology.Chapter three analyses and discusses Chen Yingzhen’s fiction creation with different themes in different historical periods under the guidance of left-wing realism.Combiningwith the text of the novel,it focuses on four kinds of themes: the depressed left-wing youth,the problem of provincial registration,the "alienation" of people under the capitalist economic system and the reappearance of the revolutionary party members and their families in the political purge.The fourth chapter concludes that Chen Yingzhen’s left-wing thought is the continuation of the left-wing spirit in Taiwan.Chen Yingzhen’s economic thought has theoretical reference significance for the development of market economy in the mainland.Chen Yingzhen’s works are important references for understanding Taiwan’s economic and social life after World War Ⅱ. |
