| Genealogy archives are historical records of the lineage reproduction and important members of the same clan with special subjects.They are the original historical materials witnessing the development of the times and social changes.Manchu genealogy archives(MGAs)are the model of national memory and the essence of genealogy culture.They cover a wide range of fields and play an crucial role in nation’s political,economic,cultural and other social practices.MGAs are rich in content,various in types,distinctive in characteristics and prominent in value.They are in the category of ethnic minority genealogy archives and are the treasure of Chinese genealogy culture with great social and practical values.As an important component of nation’s cultural heritage,MGAs should be scientifically managed and effectively compiled and researched.It would be helpful for exploring the precious value of MGAs in full if we investigate them in depth and expand their connotation and research scope.This paper selects MGAs as the research object to provide a comprehensive review,so as to conduct a study of compilation and research.The full text is divided into four portions:Introduction,Main Body,Conclusion and Appendix.Introduction describes the background,purpose and significance of this topic,reviews genealogy archives and particularly MGAs at home and abroad,and thoroughly grasps the domestic and foreign research results and practical experience.Main Body consists of six chapters.The first chapter gives a overall description of MGAs,which provides a theoretical background for compilation and research.The second chapter completely analyzes the emergence,formation and development of MGAs,specifically discusses the origin,process,style of its compilation and the development of compiling and editing.The third chapter expounds the value function and practical role of MGAs based on a comprehensive analysis of historical data and social reality.The fourth chapter explains the concept connotation,theoretical development,content characteristics,status impact and social effects of the compilation and research of MGAs,focusing on the analysis of the specific work progress of it at present stage.The fifth chapter deeply analyzes the urgency and limitations of the compilation and research of MGAs by presenting the current situation and elaborates the problems existing in macro-management and practical work.The sixth chapter,combined the theory and practice of historical philology,emphasizes the innovation strategy of MGAs compilation and research and discusses in-depth about how to optimize the development of the work of it.In Appendix,the author summarizes 54 MGAs,focusing on the six elements-time of revision,format,number of volumes,compiler,executive summary and preservation status.The author proactively seeks the establishment of MGAs compilation and research method system to straighten out the working ideas and break the status quo of compilation and research,in order to put the value function of MGAs into better use to achieve sustainable inheritance and utilization.Hope this study could also provide some enlightenment for the practical research of other ethnic minority genealogy archives. |
