In the Ming Dynasty, the Book of Songs has always been despised and even criticized by the later generations for being "empty","shallow" and "plagiarism".But in fact, with the revival of Sinology in the end of the Ming Dynasty, there were many scholars in the field of the Book of Songs, who tried to break the shackles of Song study, advocate the return to the Sinology tradition, and had the distinctive spirit of liberation.Hao Jing was one of the best.As a famous scholar and thinker in the late Ming Dynasty,he devoted his life to academic research and wrote a lot.Among the many classics,he devoted the most energy to the Book of Songs and achieved the most remarkable achievement. There are mainly 36 volumes of Mao Shi Yuan Jie,and eight volumes of Mao Shi Xu Shuo.In addition,Hao’s views on the Book of Songs was also in the Tan Jing. And the other works of classics, historical books and literature research also run through his views. On the one hand, the academic circle of the late Ming Dynasty was filled with the bad atmosphere of "empty and vulgar" and "shallow and rootless".On the other hand,it was deeply eroded by the "nothingness" and "mysterious" thoughts, which led to the traditional study of classical science has been seeking to survive in difficulties.Hao Jing’s academic work has also experienced a process of continuous absorption and abandonment. In his early years,he inherited the family tradition of his ancestors’"Poetry" and "Rites",and was taught by his mentor Li Weizhen, and he made achievements in the study of articles. In the middle age, under Bao Shilong’s influence,Hao Jing’s academic work turned to the study of Neo-Confucianism,and turned to the study of Confucian classics after being dissatisfied with Neo-Confucianism talking about the of "mind".This academic experience laid a good academic foundation for Hao Jing’s study of breaking through the shackles of Song studies.Although Hao Jing’s study of the Book of Songs paid attention to both the strengths of the Han and Song dynasties,he holds a critical attitude towards the whole Song study. The basic principle of his thoughts was to praise the way to interpret the classics of Confucius and Mencius. He believed that it was not advisable for Song Confucianism to abandon the classics and completely abandon the old theories.Only by following the laws of the sages could we truly understand the purpose of the classics.Among the classics,Hao Jing believes that the Book of Songs has more "clear laws" to follow. His respect for this "clear laws" is mainly reflected in his affirmation of Confucius ’deletion of poetry, his adherence to the Confucian’s poetry teaching of"Wen Rou Dun Hou",and the adherence to Mencius’ "Yi Yi Ni Zhi".Hao Jing’s study of the Book of Songs had its clear basic position, which is highlighted in the firm maintenance of the Poetry Preface, especially the ancient Preface. He thought if you did not to read the ancient preface, you would not get the ambition of the poet and the meaning of the saint. So he tried to criticize Zhu Xi’s abandonment of the Poetry Preface from the poem preface and the poet, and the language of the Book of Songs and so on.This was also one of the most essential parts of Hao Jing’s views.Although some of these arguments were inevitably strongly argued, which maked his view of the Poetry Preface much criticized by scholars of later generations,Hao Jing’s view of Zhu Xi’s view of the Poetry Preface was not completely negative, and the two interpretation of Er Nan and the poems that were straightforward or seen in the history of books was basically unified. The later criticism of him was actually unfair. The characteristic of Hao Jing’s views of the Book of Songs was " harmony",which was mainly reflected in his discussion on "Si Wu Xie","Yin Shi Shuo","Liu Yi" and other issues.Hao Jing He inherits and criticizes Zhu Zi’s view of "Si Wu Xie".However,he strongly criticized Zhu Xi’s "Yin Shi Shuo",which involved "Shi Yan Zhi" and "Zheng Sheng Yin" and many other problems. This was one of his major achievements in the study of the Book of Songs.Although his criticism was often inconsistent,it was generally justified. He and Zhu Xi’s different views about "Si Wu Xie" and "Yin Shi Shuo" in fact was still the contest between the two schools on the Poetry Preface, and a contest between the Sinology school and the Song School about the Book of Songs, and fundamentally was the confrontation between the two explanatory systems of the Book of Songis. So this issue has very important research value In addition,Hao Jing’s discussion on "Liu Yi" was also very insightful, especially his judgment of "Bi" and "Xing" was highly affirmed by later generations and even Japanese scholars.Hao Jing had also made extraordinary achievements in the fields of history, literature and other fields, often arguing with his classical studies. For example,he used the Bin Feng-Chi Xiao and Xiao Ya-Tang Di,supplemented by the Book of History, strongly refuted the theory that the view of "Zhou Gong killed Guan Shu",which was handed down from the Han Dynasty. He uses "Wen Rou Dun Hou" as a criterion to evaluate other poems. All these reflect the mutual penetration of Hao Jing’s classical studies and other academic studies.Although Hao Jing also had obvious deficiencies in the study of the Book of Songs, which was mainly manifested in the continuous adherence to the ancient preface and the strong attack on Zhu Xi’s biography,it cannot erase its important value and influence. His studies of the Book of Songs not only brought new vitality to the study of the Book of Songs in the late Ming Dynasty, also led the revival of Sinology in the Book of Songs of the Qing Dynasty, and It also pointed out the direction of the study of the Book of Songs of the Sinology school in the Edo Period of Japan In a word,Hao Jing’s research on the couldn’t be framed, and Hao Jing was worthy of being a leading figure in the study of classics in the late Ming Dynasty.
