Culture is the soul for a nation or a country.Culture has become a core research focus and more and more attentions have been on the trade performance.China and international trade have faced huge challenge under the circumstances of anti-globalization and changes not seen in a century.As dependence of research and government decision,Culture has a deep influence for economy development,investment and international trade.During the process of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and process from large trading country to a trading power country,Chinese traditional culture have a special function for China economy development and shows a China solution,China development strengthen confidence for China culture and system.China culture has stronger and stronger influence abroad with the development of international trade;China core values are full of traditional culture which has become an important explain way for China;the enterprises has paid high attention to traditional culture.Huawei 5G and Hongmeng Harmony OS has become a flag in the world technology field.When discussing with university students,Ren Zhenfei confirms that Confucian culture should be respected and he is influenced by Confucian culture.The fans for Li Ziqi are over 10 million on YouTube and Li Ziqi has spread the traditional culture around world.According to Alibaba April 2020,her products have improved 51.3%and mainly exported to EU and US.The《suggestion on putting China excellent traditional culture into effect》had been issued by the office of CPPCC and state council in Jan 2017 and make China traditional culture develop as a state policy.It has become necessary not only on theory but also practice to find a new way to improve trade performance and gain culture confidence under culture informal system through innovation changed and creative development.In order to investigate the influence of Confucian culture which is the most important traditional culture on Chinese manufacturing exporting enterprise comprehensively and systematically,the dissertation study this project from 4 aspects which includes the threshold ability(exporting total factor productivity),the competitive ability(product quality of exporting enterprises),the profit ability(domestic value added ratio of exporting enterprises)and the scale ability(dual margins of trade growth respectively).Under the framework of new-new trade theory and based on the new system economy and Principal-agent Theory,the dissertation measures the Confucian culture for exporting enterprises behavior through the comprehensive matched data base organized by China Industry enterprises,China custom trade enterprise and hand-made Confucian schools.The dissertation expands the research between culture and exporting enterprises behavior through inherited traditional culture based on the formal study.There are 9 chapters in this dissertation.The first chapter is the comprehensive introduction which consists of the research background,the purpose of the dissertation,the research ideas,methods and findings.The second chapter is the review for literature which includes how culture influence economy and trade especially further research literature for mechanism between Confucian culture and economy and trade.The third chapter is Confucian culture system innovation and index quantification.First of all the dissertation gives a brief review for the evolution path of Confucian culture.Then analyze the culture function for enterprises and introduce the measurement of Confucian culture index on enterprises level which is the Confucian schools amounts under a certain distance.The dissertation makes a further study and empirical research from the fourth chapter to the eighth chapter.The fourth study the mechanism between Confucian culture and total factor productivity according comprehensive data base.The fifth chapter study how the Confucian influence exporting product quality.The dissertation uses different ways to quantify the export product’s quality and then find the positive result through empirical way.The sixth chapter studies how the Confucian influence trade dual margins.First the dissertation studys how to affect export decision which is extensive margin.After the positive result the dissertation makes a further study about the different effect to dual margins according to different kinds of enterprises and gives accurate suggestions respectively.The seventh chapter study how the Confucian influence domestic-value-added-ratio(DVAR).The dissertation makes a model which added culture capital and find the relationship between Confucian culture and DVAR through empirical research.In order to test the social results,the eighth chapter makes a survey or interview according development and confidence about the Confucian culture influence.The ninth chapter summarizes the dissertation which includes main conclusions the short points,policy implications and research directions for the future.Based on the formal theoretical and empirical analysis,the conclusions are the followings:(1)The dissertation approves that Confucian Culture promote improvement for TFP through empirical analysis and the result is still robust after a series of steady tests.The innovation and cost management are the channels through which Confucian Culture promote TFP progress.However Confucian Culture show non-linear effect for different R&D level enterprise and have most positive effect for high level enterprises,then high level and low level least through threshold effects analysis.Confucian Culture show most positive TFP effect for those enterprises which are stated owned,small sized and China middle-area located enterprises.(2)Through the analysis of empirical and normative the chapter study mechanism which human beings behavior are influenced by institutional economics and history to explain the effect of Confucian culture to China export quality.The results approve that the Confucian culture do have an obvious effect to the China enterprises export products quality which is very stable after a series of steady tests.Cost decreasing and efficiency improvement are the 2 important channels through which the Confucian Culture promote quality.Confucian culture shows heterogeneity according to different kinds of enterprises.Confucian culture has more effect for China owned enterprises than foreign invested enterprises;more for processing trade than rest;more for large and medium enterprises than small ones.(3)Based on Hulten model,through the analysis of theory and empirical analysis the dissertation find the mechanism between Confucian culture and DVAR(Domestic Value Added Ratio).It finds that the Confucian culture has promoted DVAR significantly and the result is still robust after considering alternative measurement,sample selection bias and the endogeneity through the analysis of matched data of Chinese industrial enterprises database,China customs trade database and China Confucian schools database.It is the efficiency improvement and R&D that are the channels for Confucian culture to influence DVAR.There are heterogeneities for Confucian culture to influence DVAR.There are more promotion effects for domestic enterprises than foreign enterprises and more effects for processing trade than general trade enterprises.The dissertation fulfills the study between culture and export behavior and strengthen culture confidence.(4)Confucian Culture promotes improvement for dual margins through total-factor-productivity as the channel.The further study shows result has the heterogeneity.The influence has a more positive effect for state owned enterprises then private enterprises but a negative effect for foreign enterprises.As to capital intensive enterprises the Confucian Culture have positive effect for extensive margin but a negative effect for intensive margin.As to labor intensive enterprises the Confucian Culture has positive effect for intensive margin but a negative effect for extensive margin.(5)Through the survey for 150 Tianjin enterprises the conclusion is that the Confucian culture and confidence do have an obvious promotion for enterprises investment intention.The dissertation finds the relationship between the threshold ability(exporting total factor productivity),the competitive ability(product quality of exporting enterprises),the profit ability(domestic value added ratio of exporting enterprises)and the scale ability(dual margins of trade growth respectively)through a new point of view.Besides it finds that the traditional culture and confidence have a positive effect for enterprise investment through 150 Tianjin city enterprises.The dissertation expands research for culture and export enterprises behavior.Meanwhile the dissertation has an important significance in theory and practice for China system construction and culture confidence.
