| In the 1990s,there was a heated discussion about ecological issues in academic circles, and some people predicted the ecological challenges that human beings will face in the next few decades in a shocking tone.Examining these remarks,it is not difficult to find that Marx’s view of nature has suffered a severe challenge from ecology.Because, when people reflect on the root of ecological problems, the concept of "dominating nature" related to Marx and the values of anthropocentrism have become the focus of debate and the target of public criticism. Is there an ecological vacancy in Marx’s view of nature as questioned by the western green trend of thought? In what sense does Marx uphold the concept of "dominating nature" and the stand of anthropocentrism? Can Marx’s view of nature solve the ecological problems faced by human beings? The major problems in front of reality can not be avoided.Clarifying these key problems is very important for us to explain the ecological meaning of Marx’s view of nature and to give full play to the role of Marx’s view of nature in solving contemporary ecological problems.Grundmann,as an important representative of the British school of ecological Marxism, advocates thinking and solving ecological problems within the framework of Marx’s historical materialism, opposing that the root of ecological problems is simply attributed to the concept of "dominating nature" and anthropocentric values.Grundmann comprehensively elucidated his rich and unique ecological Marxist thought. The logical starting point of his thought is to discuss man’s attitude towards nature. He interprets the concept of "dominating nature" as consciously controlling nature and giving it positive meaning on the premise of mastering the laws of nature.it is emphasized that the root of ecological problems does not lie in the concept of "dominating nature" itself,on the contrary,"dominating nature" shows the meaning of human existence, the attribute of load value and the goal of communism. The logical core of his thought is to discuss the status of man and nature. He defends the values of anthropocentrism and clarifies the questions and criticisms faced by the values of anthropocentrism.Based on the criticism of ecocentrism and modern anthropocentrism, this paper expounds the basic proposition that nature is not always beneficial to human beings. It makes it clear that only by taking human as the center can we find the scientific reference point to evaluate and solve ecological problems, actively defend the values of anthropocentrism, and finally put forward the unique argument of "returning to anthropocentrism".The logical aim of his thought is to discuss the end-result of man and nature.Grundmann reinterpreted the ecological meaning of historical materialism,he reinterpreted the concept of development of historical materialism and historical materialism, and expressed his good ideas for the communist society.Grundmann’s reinterpretation of historical materialism not only enriches and expands the theoretical space of historical materialism, but also demonstrates the scientific and contemporary nature of historical materialism.Grundmann’s ecological Marxism, with its uniqueness and reality, created the ecological Marxist school of anthropocentrism which is dominant in Britain, actively defended the philosophical rational tradition represented by Marx’s theory of humanized nature, and insisted that it was enough to solve ecological problems within the framework of Marx’s theory of historical materialism. However, due to the historical environment and his own cognition,Grundmann’s ecological Marxist thought has its own limitations, and he mostly elucidates the cognition of ecological problems from the perspective of philosophical anthropology.among them, the understanding of Marx’s view of nature seems to be real and partly deviates from the basic position of Marxist theory, and fails to really restore the theoretical essence of Marx’s view of nature.A more fatal defect is that he fundamentally weakens the criticism of the capitalist system, which is doomed that he cannot really find a correct way to solve the ecological problems.Grundmann’s theoretical point of view was later supported and perfected by Pepper,Hughes and others, and finally developed and perfected the ecological Marxist school of anthropocentrism. We should uphold the objective and fair understanding of Grundmann’s ecological Marxist thought, which can not only see the uniqueness and originality of his thought and theory, but also correctly realize the bias of his theory.Based on the interpretation and defense of Marx’s view of nature,we analyze the theoretical origin, theoretical connotation and historical status of Grundmann’s ecological Marxism. The ultimate goal is for us to deeply understand and explore the true meaning of Marx’s view of nature to provide realistic guiding significance,in order to better serve the specific practice of the construction of socialist ecological civilization with Chinese characteristics. Finally, under the guidance of the scientific concept of "human and natural life community",we strive to realize the beautiful vision of harmonious symbiosis between human and nature. |
