| At the beginning of the 20th century,when Western Cubist artists placed ready-made products directly as materials on the screen,the creation mode of single-painting materials broke the boundaries of concepts-not just using a single traditional painting technique and material for creation.As a result,the material was transformed from the carrier of painting expression to the support of the artist’s aesthetic creation,and an art form that could not be covered by traditional art was reconstructed around the material.The study of materials in Chinese mixed-materials painting began with the "imitation" of modern Western art forms,and gradually gained official recognition,with the establishment of specialized painting departments in art academies,and the establishment of the "Committee for the Preservation and Restoration of Mixed-Materials Paintings and Works of Art",which made it officially become an independent exhibition area.The establishment of the "Art Committee for the Preservation and Restoration of Mixed-Material Painting and Art Works" made it officially become an independent exhibition area,appearing in various large-scale exhibitions such as the National Art Exhibition.The formal language of Chinese mixed-material painting is characterized by stages,specifically divided into: "formal language and rebellion","the transition of diversified formal languages","the emergence of comprehensive formal languages".The change of materials triggered the change of concepts,and the use of materials went from recognizing materials,introducing materials,creating materials to transcending materials,and finally materials became a medium to express the artist’s thematic consciousness.Through the analysis of the style and form of mixed-material paintings,it is found that their practice revolves around materials,and through the transformation of traditional language and craftsmanship,they present the creative techniques of deconstruction and reorganization.This is the process of constructing the unique ideological connotation of the nation,as well as the inheritance of the aesthetic connotation of traditional Chinese painting,with the trend of "material expansion","boundary synthesis",and "conceptual integration".From the budding to the maturity of mixed-materials painting,it signifies that the artistic methods of material creation are constantly enriched,the artistic categories and boundaries are broken through,and the painting form goes from two-dimensional to multi-dimensional,which is also the process of deconstructing and reconstructing the easel painting.In mixed-material painting,artists combine materials and concepts,breaking through the assertion of "the final conclusion of art",which is not only a revolution of painting expression and painting medium language,but also a change of painting spirit and the spirit of the times.Therefore,from the perspective of art history research,the whole article strives to refine,enrich and summarize the exploration history and path of Chinese mixed-material painting,and focuses on the period from 1978 to 2022,when "material" changed from "materiality" to "artistry",and when "artistry" changed from "materiality" to "artistry".It also focuses on the transformation process of "material" from "physicality" to "artistry" between 1978 and 2022,so as to establish a detailed and sufficient historical premise and stage characteristics. |
