As an analogical reasoning system of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) has got more and more attention since 1990's, which solve the problem based on similarity of historical events.At the same time, CBR has been used in the field of geography as the complexity of geological problems and the rapid development of geography, so the Geographical Case Based Reasoning (GeoCBR) has been posed.The retrieval of similar cases is the key process of CBR system, at present, most of the similarity algorithms are used the traditional CBR similarity calculation method for the spatial attributes, there are also some scholars considered the case's spatial relationships and spatial form in the similarity calculation process. But the Geo-case not only has its own spatial characteristics, there still exist complex spatial relations between the cases, and the geographical space in which the cased occurred also has a certain spatial distribution pattern. Those characteristics are not considered or considered incompletely in traditional Geo-case similarity algorithms. In this paper, the deeper study of spatial similarity has been adopted to Geo-case, the main contents can be summarized as follows aspects:(1)Through the conceptual analysis of GeoCBR and CBR, the particularity and complexity of Geo-case similarity have been pointed out, the connotation of the Geo-case's geographical similarity calculation has been specified.(2)The current CBR similarity calculation algorithms have been analyzed. Geo-case is a kind of case, so the traditional similarity calculation algorithms of case are bound to have some which are appropriate to Geo-case. Through the above analysis, the suitable CBR similarity algorithms are introduced into the Geo-case's spatial similarity calculation, and some complement and improvement have been done targeted.(3)Spatial reasoning is an important research field of AI, in which the spatial similarity calculation is an important topic. The similarity calculation of spatial relations and spatial forms of Geo-case was posed through analyzing the GIS spatial similarity calculation.(4)Based on the study and analysis of CBR similarity and GIS spatial similarity calculation, the Geo-case spatial similarity algorithm model was summed up. And the algorithm was validated by a Geo-case spatial similarity calculation soft system which was developed with Visual C# and ArcEngine.
