Loess landslide is the most serious geological hazard in the loess region. Owing to the exceptive of loess material composition and engineering property, the formation condition and mechanism of loess landslide are complicated and diverse. Serious loess landslide hazards have restricted local economic development in baoji district. Therefore, it is significant to study on the failure mechanism and stability of loess landslide in-depth. Failure mechanism, sliding situations and stability of bojizhuang landslide are studied in this paper by means of field investigation, laboratory test and numerical simulation. The concrete content is as follow:(1) Through the geological environment of chencang district, time distribution and spatial distribution of the landslide are analyzed. The conclusion is a large number of landslide lies in the river, and these rivers tributary bank. Most of loess landslide are related to rain.(2) On the analysis of the basis feature, lithology, laboratory test of bojizhuang landslide,we discovered that geographical, composition, rainfall intensity are the most factors affect the stability of bojizhuang landslide. Primary role of rainfall is reducing soil strength, increasing soil density and softening the potential sliding surface. On this basis, concluded the mechanism of bojizhuang landslide, the initial slope deformation is collapse, the secondary deformation is main in sliding, and are triggered by rainfall.(3) Use FLAC3D software to simulate the formation of bojizhuang landslide, analysis the distribution of stress-strain state,to verify the conditions and mechanism of landslide formation. Analysis the seepage of bojizhuang landslide under rainfall conditon, the result is that in nature the landslide is in steady state, but the stability will drastically reduced in rainfall, especially in the persistent rainfall. Based on the displacement increment and the shear-strain distribution, the slide area can be distinguished.(4) According to the status of bojizhuang landslide, some suggestions about the moving plan of bojizhuang village and the control measurements of the landslide are put forward.
