With the increase of fossil fuel energy crisis, the human development of ocean energies demand increasingly urgent. Wave energy is the focus of ocean energies development, countries have invested enormous effort on wave power technology. Numerical simulation of interactions between waves and pendulum which is part of the first level conversion of pendulum wave power converter is the central matter in this paper. It provides a method of numerical simulation to design the pendulum wave power converter and research FSI in this paper.Wave power model experiment conducted in 2009 studied on the interactions between waves and pendulum with physical model experiment, and as a result of the dynamical output characteristic and stress of pendulum model in each case, including their relations to influencing factors.Using ADINA finite element software with N-S equation and continuity equation as control equations, created a 3-D FSI mathematical model, which is based on the physical model experiment, to simulate the interactions between waves and pendulum in this paper. During the creating of mathematical model process, finalize the most reasonable and feasible simulation method through contrasting and verifying several methods as provided to simulate all aspects of the physical model. A numerical wave tank technique with short computational region, wave making face and dampness region is used in the mathematical model. The infliction method of dampness is improved that setting a large viscosity in dampness region. The result of simulation is exact and steady comparing with theory value.A 2-D fluid model is provisional used in order to determine the parameters which affect the generation of waves. Compared the result with theory value, the fluid model is reasonable.The 3-D FSI numerical model is used to simulate three cases of physical model experiment in this paper. Compared the angle, plane stress of pendulum and wave in front of pendulum with experiment value. The method of numerical simulation in this paper is proved reasonable and its range of applicability is sure.
