The pore structure of reservoir rock is an important factor that affects the hydrocarbon migration. This has an important meaning to research and expound its micro characteristics for hydrocarbon exploration and development. Fractal geometry focused on researching the objects which have space complexity and statistical self-similarity. Using this theory through the establishment of micro pore structure model, the properties achieved are more in line with the real situation. The results will have significance for practical production and practice.Based on fractal geometry and pore structure model theory research, micro pore structure model are established with combining the actual material, and made the following conclusions and understandings: (1) the basic principle and nature of fractal geometry are discussed. According to introduce and research its application in earth science especially in micro pore structure model, we found that research by fractal theory applied to the microscopic simulation is feasible. (2) Based on the research of fractal dimension, its significance, application and some methods of calculation are discussed, and then showed the calculation process according to the actual data. It is proved that using rock chip and mercury injection material in calculating fractal dimension are feasible. The concept of fractal scale limit is put forward, only the radius of pore structure is greater than fractal scale limit, it would exist fractal phenomenon. (3) The micro pore structure of shengtuo areas Es2 sand reservoir rocks were researched according to the collection of mercury injection. The type of pore structure in study area was divided by using mercury injection curves. The fractal dimension of samples was calculated, and the relationship of fractal dimension with all kinds of micro parameters was analyzed. It is found that there exists certain correlation. (4) Porosity, permeability and fractal dimension of micro pore structure model are built, and proved its credibility through model test. So as to further illustrate that relation between fractal dimension and microscopic reservoir parameter. As a result, it is considered that fractal dimension can be used as a parameter in dividing reservoir and evaluating microscopic reservoir heterogeneity.
