Research On The Cyclic Plastic Zone Near Crack Tip

The plastic zone size is an important parameter in the investigation of the fatiguefracture. Using numerical method, this paper studied the influence of different factors onthe plastic zone size, including plastic constitutive model, element size, non-geometryand load ratio. And found that except the plastic constitutive model, all these factors havelittle influence on the plastic zone size. And the plastic zone theory by Jiang and Kurathis given forâ… ,â…¡combined crack mode under multiaxial non-proportianal loading.Because this theory is not related to the stress intensity factor, it could be used for thecombined crack under complex cyclic loading.
