Among the researches on global environment variation, the study on land use and land cover change (LUCC) is playing a very important role. It is a core and focus point. Land use and land cover change have important significance on sustainable development. Sustainable development stands for the science direction of Land use and land cover change, while Land use/land cover change offers detailed content for sustainable development. The study of land use change is an important base of harmonizing earth-human relationships properly and boosting regional economic sustainable developmentThe regional integrated and systematic analysis of the spatial dynamical features and temporal dynamical features of land use is a key on explaining regional mechanism of land use/land cover change and on establishing database and forecast model.Xinjiang pertains to typical arid and semi-arid region. The eco-environment is very weak, however, Xinjiang is the most abundant region on preparing land resources in China. The study on land use and land cover change in Xinjiang has great importance obviously.Adopted technologies of geographical information system (GIS) and database and based on the unit of counties, some spatial models were used to analyze the spatial-temporal dynamic feature of land use on the deferent angles in Xinjiang from 1996 to 2000, including land use dynamical change models, Landscape models, Canonical Correlation Analysis model, etc. Moreover, it made an attempt to study the integration of information management on land resources in Xinjiang. The primary content includes seven parts on the spatial dynamical features and temporal dynamical features of land use change.1. The analysis of dynamic features quantity of land resources.2. The analysis of change features of spatial landscape structure of land use.3. The analysis of dynamic feature of the grade indexes of land use.4. The analysis of change features of land use degree.5. The analysis of spatial feature of land cover pattern.6. The analysis of the regional deference of land use change.7. The analysis of the mechanism and driving forces of land use change. Through analysis and discussion above, this paper summarized some conclusions.1. The spatial-temporal dynamic characteristic and process of land use change in Xinjiang.2. The spatial structure and distributing characteristic in Xinjiang.3. The characteristic of the regional deference of land use change, the mechanism and driving forces of land use change, the characteristic of land use and exploitation and its issues in Xinjiang.Taking the representative arid land-Xinjiang as a case, this paper analyzed the spatial-temporal dynamic features of land use in order to deeply research the mechanism of land use/land cover and its driving forces. On the aspect of information management, the paper had elementary study on the integration of COM GIS and MIS. The system is based on the integrative land use information database and spatial data (scale, 1:100 Million). It used MapX that is an ActiveX component and distributed by Maplnfo. Corporation. Visual Basic6.0 was taken as the platform in the system that directly was inserted the function of GIS so as to realize controlling and operating vector maps. This study drew some conclusions on information management, too.1. The information construction on land resources management is necessary.2. The system's performing and running accord with the matter of fact in Xinjiang, and it is one of keys on the success of MIS.3. The study of the integration of COM GIS and MIS is feasibleThe study of the integration of COM GIS and MIS profits speeding up the construction of information and modernization on land management in Xinjiang. Meanwhile, it enables to grasp information on land use change timely and offers information sustain for macro-control and land layout on the department of land management.
