| Safety and economy are the ultimate objectives and operational theme in modern civil aviation transportation. Since all aviation transportation is carried out in certain meteorological conditions and weather conditions have great influences on flight, the meteorological services are of great importance to the flight safety, normalization, and efficiency. Due to the improvement of the meteorological services, especially the use of Doppler radar, the flight safety, normalization and efficiency have been improved to a large extent. With the wider application of Doppler weather radar, more accurate analysis of the weather information should be made, which requires more knowledge about the application of Doppler weather and analysis of its information.This paper is intended to give a systematical discussion about the working principles of Doppler weather radar. It is difficult to detect the atmospheric currents accurately by using general means. Doppler weather radar is able to detect the longitudinal vector (i.e. longitudinal speed) distribution accurately in the wind field. This paper makes an analysis of the Doppler speed charts of clear weather and the echoes of large-area precipitation. It also singles out the Doppler speed charts of typical wind fields. In addition, this paper analyzes Doppler radar's detecting process of the strong convection current weather system. It also conducts a thorough analysis of Doppler echo features of some hazardous weather, such as cell storm and downward storms. Based on this research and analysis, the paper reaches some important conclusions concerning the detecting methods using Doppler radar and the analysis of the information gathered by Doppler radar. The present research has certain implications for aviation professionals in the analysis and process of Doppler radar information and decision-making concerning wind fields, which in turn facilitates the organization of flight operations and ensures flight safety and efficiency.
