Modeling geochemical reaction modeling by computer is a new research field developed since the 1980's. It makes use of geochemistry, physical chemistry, computer language, calculation method and database. As the development of modeling theories and computer technology, it does a more and more important role in geochemistry study.Geomodel 1.0 is a Visual C++ computer program designed to model geochemical reactions, which offers a friendly and visual interface. Using Geomodel 1.0, users can (1) manage the database of geochemical data, (2) get atomic weights and molecular weights of minerals, (3) model geochemical reaction of the species in the database and, (4) obtain information about geochemistry and modeling theories.Compared with analogous software, Geomodel 1.0 has followed characteristics: (1) employing database system instead of text files to save data, (2) introducing the conception of base species and using it in modeling, and (3) having a friendly and visual interface which is all in Chinese. This paper (1) overviews the development of geochemical reaction modeling, (2) explains the theory and equations employed by Geomodel 1.0, (3) briefly presents the flow of the program, (4) displays the interface and functions of Geomodel 1.0, (5) shows two reaction examples and does some analysis, and (4) summarizes the features and shortcomings of Geomodel 1.0.
