With the development of oilfields, many old reservoir in the east of China enter the high water-bearing development period. Sustaining a high and stable production rate faces severe challenge. The key to preserve oil output in high water cut period is dependent upon the understanding degree to the properties of residual oil distribution. Regarding PI oil bearing group in the polymer flooding well pattern in the west part of Beisandong reservoir, Saertu Oilfield of Daqing, as the target pay zone, this paper has firstly drawn the sedimentary microfacies maps of each time unit by means of corresponding depositional theory and correlation method of sand member in fluvial-delta depositional system. Meanwhile, reservoir heterogeneities, vertically and horizontally, are studied with both conventional method and variogram theory in geostatistics, which gives a sound geological foundation for residual oil study. The water flooding properties and corresponding log response in different types of reservoirs are studied on the basis of comprehensively analyzing well logging curve, core test and performance information, and a new interpretation standard is given to determine the degree of water flooding in the producing beds. Based on building high definition log interpretation model, in this paper, the reservoir geological modeling techniques is used to stimulate reservoir parameter characteristics between wells. From 1980's , while the study of the reservoir flow unit was proceeded alongside, it has been more widely utilized to characterize reservoir feature and remnant oil distribution. Study of reservoir flow unit plays, both theoretically and practically, an important role in recognizing reservoir heterogeneity, performing a high-definition reservoir delineation and understanding the distribution of the remnant oil in the reservoir. Studying result shows that different sedimentary microfacies is composed of the combination of different types of flow units, and has different seeping capacity. Based on a detailed investigation of studying method and technique of reservoir flow unit, the target beds in this area are divided into five types of flow units with flow zone index, Kozeny-carman formula. Finally, according to FZI(flow zone index), this paper presents a interpretation model of oil saturation, which provides a new way of studying residual oil.
