The Jinjiang landslide, which is away 5km from the left bank of upper stream of Baihetan hydropower station in the Jinsha River, with about 1.58×108m3 of accumulation and 56m of average thickness, is very huge; So that, evaluating the stability of landslide and forecasting its danger are also particularly important to assess the possibility of the project. This paper study the Jinjiang landslide, Integrative application of geological history genetic analysis, limiting equilibrium method and numerical analysis, by analyzing physical geography condition and geological background of the investigated area, this paper researched basic features and genetic mechanism about the landslide, and evaluated sensitivity factors and the current stability as well as development tendency about the landslide's stability; Based on these, recurring to experience formula and correlation theory, this paper forecasted the events about landslide damming of river and surge caused by the slope failure, in addition, and evaluated the harmfulness. Furthermore, the author study the character of the earthquake factor through researching into historical earthquakes of the investigated area and engineering seismology, it insures the reliability of reverse calculation parameters.According to composition and structure feature of Jinjiang landslide analysis, the author considers it was a enormous landslide with the characters about multi-period (total four slides) and overlaying, its mechanism of deformation failure attributed to a representative Sliding - bending Mode in the consequent slope, the stability calculation indicates that no matter what the whole landslide would not slide, while, as earthquake intensity reaching or exceeding VI, the first-period landslide which lies to the south of Huangjiagou in the front slip mass and the fourth-period landslide which lies to the north of Caojialiangzi in the back slip mass will slide. Factors sensitivity analysis indicates that earthquake intensity (especially undergoing macro-seism) is the most hypersensitive affecting factor to the landslide stability. On the basis of the result of the research on the landslide damming of river, failure of landslide dam, outburst flood and landslide surge, the failure of the part of landslide will arise a maximum surge height to 6m at the dam site, at the same time, the height of landslide dam will reach possibly 33m, and the flood peak of outburst flood will reach 15841~7613m3/s, and make water level to rise at 11~4m through Jinjiang to Xiluodu of the Jinsha River. This paper considered these would endanger villages, shipping and environment of the neighboring reservoir area, and to the huge planning construction - Baihetan hydropower station away 5km from its downstream, its dam and adjunctive hydraulic structures would suffer from some dangerousness, While on the contrary, to the under construction-Xiluodu huge hydropower complex away 245km from its downstream, it will not suffer any harm.
