Preliminary Study On Lichen Genus Melanelia In Mts. Tianshan And Altay From Xinjiang

It is a preliminary study on the Lichen Genus Melanelia of the Lichen family Parmeliaceae in Mts. Tianshan and Altay from Xinjiang. More than six hundred specimens studied were collected from over a hundred localities of twenty counties in Mts. Tianshan and Altay regions of Xinjiang.The morphology, anatomy, chemistry, and taxonomy of the genus are examined by means of LM. SEM, TEM. CT, MCT and TLC respectively. At present, the Melanelia in Mts. Tianshan and Altay from Xinjiang includes 22 species, among which 12 species is new to China and 3 new to Xinjiang. Ten species of them have pseudocyphella, 6 have soredia, 7 have isidia, 4 have lobules. 19 have apothecia and 13 have pycnidia. All of them are classified into 3 ecological types and 11 geograpical elements. The main chemical substances are fumarprotocetraric, lecanoric. gyrophoric, perlatolic and stenosporic acids and atranorin detected by CT, MCT and TLC. The examination of their apothecia and spores was carried out by using LM, SEM and TEM. The distribution map of each species in Xinjiang is made, meanwhile each species is described from the angle of its morphological characters, chemical substances, habitat and distribution. Comments of each species and color photographs are also provided with and, finally, the key to the species is given.
