Multi-beam swath bathymeter is a seafloor mapping equipment with high efficiency, high accuracy and excellent resolution, especially fitted for wide sweep mapping. The multi-beam swath bathymetric technique needs more improvement with the developing of modern science and technology. Miniaturization of the bathymeter is currently the main goal of this field.In this paper, the miniaturization of multi-beam swath bathymeter based on the H/HCS-017, the first multi-beam swath bathymeter of our country, was argued. The main works of this paper are designing the 12 Channel Phased Signal Generator for the miniaturization of multi-beam swath bathymeter and developing the interface of the bathymeter based on PCI Bus.The popular Large Scale Programmable Logic Device FPGA and VHDL Hardware Descriptive Language was used in the signal generator, and the high speed PCI Bus was used to link to the interface with special chip PLX PCI9052. So they have excellent performance, such as modularization, high speed of data transmission and flexible maneuverability.The developing of Phased Signal Generator and the interface hardware was completed in this paper. In addition, a feasible solution for the interface was putting forward, and the frame of corresponding WDM driver for PCI Bus device based on Windows2000 was founded with Driver Works. They can used to improve and consummate the miniaturization of multi-beam swath bathymeter further.
