With the speedy development of modern information technologies, GIS systems and MIS systems are widely applied in various fields of domestic economy. At the same time, the requirements of industry and marketing for them are becoming higher and higher. In this thesis, a GIS system and a MIS system are combined and integrated to harmonize GIS system with MIS system to make them supplement each other, with the application of component-based GIS development model and system integration theory, a new system--GMIS system which is based on deep researche on Oracle Spatial, MapX component, Windows Sockets technologies etc. is implemented finally. At the beginning of the thesis, the concept and current status of GMIS' research are interpreted, and then it describes the GMIS system's framework, database's design and its pivotal technologies and their methods to be implemented. Also, it analyzes component-based GIS development model and system integration theory and their applications in the GMIS system. The primary contents of the thesis mainly include:(1) Analysis to Oracle Spatial and Object-Relation model of Oracle Spatial and its advantages & supported geometry types. Configuration and building of database and data's acquirement, transformation and import.(2) Analysis to MapX's spatial data and its component model structure. Detailed research on two methods of accessing mechanism to Oracle Spatial, one is based on OO4O and the other is based on MapX and the comparison of the two methods' characteristics. The usage and implementation of MapX component to access spatial data and its GIS functions in the GMIS system under the Visual C++ IDE.(3) Study and design on Windows Sockets communication mechanism which is utilized to implement the communication function between GIS module and 3D scene simulation module of the GMIS system. Windows Sockets' communication format establishment and its implementation on the server are also referred.
