In this article a new method is presented for generating unstructured grids in the frame of advancing front techniques by using a set of prescribed mesh modules. Each mesh module itself contains a set of mesh elements. During the mesh generation, the specific module is picked from the pool of mesh modules based on spacing parameters of the background grids at the local advancing front. In other words, the new method of grid generation is realized by copying or modifying prescribed modules into computational domain. The faster triangulation of the computational domain can be expected due to introducing mesh modules instead of one triangle as used in traditional method on each step of mesh generation. The implementation of the method in 2-D is described in details and is successfully used for the generation of airfoil meshes, which can be used for flow solutions of Euler equation by finite-volume method. Besides the extension is made for 3-D surface meshing. The algorithm developed can be used for providing highly qualified initial front for 3-D unstructured grid generation. The successful test cases of mesh generation obtained by using the presented method show the procedure of fast triangulation and the potentiality of wide applications.
