Cellular Automata(CA) is an important field of complexity science. The CA offers a promising computational model to simulate complex phenomena that are characterized by different coupled parameters that account for the interactions of their different components. Now it has been applied in sociology, biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, military science and so on. This thesis mainly studies several characteristics quantities in dynamical process of CA. The main results of this thesis are as follows:1. The elemental theory of CA has been introduced in detail. We have also investigated main characteristics and advantages of CA that is looked as a model in complex system.2.Odd-even model is a simple cellular automata model. Hamming distance and total density correlation are introduced in the study of this model dynamical process. Through studies about odd-even cellular automata model, the extending odd-even model is proposed. Through the study of the transfer laws of this extending model, we point out some possible effect on the model's dynamical behavior. A lot of computer simulated experiments on this model testify Hamming distance and total density accorded with dynamical behavior.3.Sustainable development is the common cause of the human society in the 21 'th century. Sustainable development is fundamentality stratagem of the development of Chinese social economy. Sustainable development assessment is the important proposition of the sustainable development implement. Social-economic-nature ecosystem is complex system which the human's survival and development rely on, sustainable development system is a nonlinear evolving process of these three subsystems. It is localized obviously to research sustainable development indices system with normal linear method. Cellular automata is an effective method to solve complex problems. We analyze the characteristic of the cellular automata as the non-linear model, and show the viable of it be applied in sustainable development evaluation. We design SDECA(sustainable development evaluation based on CA) . The evolving result shows that it accords with real situation. It prove that the new modeling method is feasible and reliable.
