Spatial data warehouse is the extension of data warehouse on spatial data. It is another new point of GIS field and has very important applicable values. Earthquake is one kind of serious natural disaster. People have never stopped describing, observing and studying on it.Seismic data of China has the following characteristics: long time span, wide spatial bound, plentiful data source, multiple types, and abundant data quantity. Earthquake happens very frequently in The North China of our country. Seismic data records of The North China are superior to other areas of China in aspects of history, quantity, and integrality. We can gain much useful information and knowledge when we use spatial data warehouse technology to standardize, abstract, and integrate seismic data, and then organize it according to different decision-making themes. Building seismic spatial data warehouse has important directive sense on study of law of earthquake activity in time sequence, spatial area, and spatial-temporal distribution, and on work of earthquake forecast, defense and reduction.In this paper, based on the seismic data set of China and its adjacent areas and Seismic belts of The North China, using PL/SQL language, Oracle Spatial database, and Oracle's own data warehouse capability—OWB, author has tried to build a seismic spatial data warehouse of The North China. The main work of this paper includes: coordinate and analyze data source, import source data into Oracle Spatial database, analyze seismic theme of The North China, select multi-dimension data model and data storage type, design and create three dimension tables and one basic fact table, abstract, transform and load data, analyze seismic data of The North China with spatial function and aggregation function, exhibit the analyzed result of seismic data, and so on. The work of this paper can offer some reference sense to the building of spatial data warehouse, which is a part of large-scale project "Data-Sharing Network of China Earth System Science" of Ministry of Science and Technology of China. This large-scale project is taken by Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research.
