The Bohai bay is one of the areas where the exploitation of petroleum and natural gas was most early. And the Bohai bay west shallow sea area is the important region of shallow sea oil field, with special ocean environment, active dynamic factor and complex geological conditions. The article summarizes the orderliness of weather, ocean hydroaraphy, ocean ice, geologic and physiognomy, dividing the research area into different engineering geological regions, and discusses the stability of two different pile foundation of inserting pile platform(with large pile shoes and without pile shoes), evaluating the feasibility of different engineering geological regions in the Bohai bay west area.According as the study of engineering geological conditions and the feasibility of pile foundation, it divides the Bohai bay west area into three regions: I which lies in east sea area of Beitang is relatively worse feasibility region; II which lies in east sea area of Tanggu and Beidagang is good feasibility region; III which lies in east sea area of Qikou and Zhaojiabao is the region withgreat diversity. The results of research are as follow: The obvious deep silt clay in the sea surface is ill engineering geological stratum, it is feasible for the pile foundation to choose Pleistocene silt soil, sand silt soil stratum which has higher intensity as bearing stratum. And the position and depth of Pleistocene silt soil, sand silt soil stratum is the main factor which infect the stability of pile foundation. Moreover, the different acreage of pile section and pile shoes is another influence factor.
