The structural geometry and dynamics characteristics with the means of subsidence-burial history analysis and provenance analysis in southern margin of Junggar basin to study tectonic evolution are discussed in this dissertation. More discussed distributing rule of petroleum systems in the Junggar basin. It's development go through tectonic change and overprint of the Hercynian period, the Indosinian period, the Yanshanian period and the Himalayan period in the southern margin of Junggar basin. Structure style include compress and strike slip. According to the spatial distribution of these structural styles, the E-W segmentation of structural deformations, vertical differences of deformations have been studied. The sedimentation center moved from the east to the west in the southern margin of Junggar basin. Elasticity model explained sedimentation mechanism from the Trias in the southern margin of Junggar foreland basin. The basin subsidence range lie on structural load and lithosphere flexibility rigidity. The Mesozoic-Cenozoic basin is shorten flexibility character basin in the southern margin. The basin evolvement and structure movement be closely linked the north Tianshan dynamics evolvement. From the Trias to the Tertiary, provenance area character changed with the age. The Jurassic provenance area is recycle orogenic belt. the Cretaceous provenance area is recycle orogenic belt too. and the Tertiary provenance area is commingle area with recycle orogenic belt and volcano arc orogenic belt. The whole basin can be set of five phase that are rift phase in the early Permian, extend depression phase in the late Permian, stabilization continent shorten flexibility depression phase in the Triassic-Jurassic,stabilization continent subsidence basin phase in the Cretaceous-Paleogene and intracontinental foreland basin phase in the Neogene-Quaternary. This area has favorable hydrocarbon accumulation conditions, and the control of structures on hydrocarbon is remarkable. The favorable exploration are as include fault-related folds in piedmont thrust zones, anticlinal structures in the footwalls of piedmont thrusts and the anticlinal structures in the outer zone of piedmont thrust belt.
