With the development of GIS technology and computer graphics, constructing 3D model and visualization is the hotspot of current internal and abroad. As the economic center of society, city is the important field in GIS application. And the research on cyber-city have become the trend in GIS research and also achieved a lot. Underground pipeline is the foundation for city to exist and develop and which is the vital constituent part of cyber-city. The research on 3D visualization and spatial analysis of underground pipeline is very important to city construction, city planning etc.The paper is focus on constructing and visualizing pipeline model and terrain model. Based on previous works, a software package-"the visualization & spatial analysis of 3d pipeline model" is made with VC++ language and OpenGL graphical library. And several tasks are finished as followed.After reviewing several existing spatial data model, the data model and storage adapted to pipeline is presented which convenient for edit and maintenance of pipeline data. 3d pipeline model is constructed and the method of calculation in it is introduced which conduce to 3d pipeline to connect with no aperture and distortion. Combining Grid with TIN to simulate terrain. When constructing TIN in local grid, the data is interpolated according to the distribution of underground pipeline. All of them can be viewed from different direction by rotating, magnifying. Based on the 3D Model, querying the 3d coordinate, querying the attribute of building and pipeline calculating spatial distance between two pipeline and so on can be finished.
