The important weather phenomena such as typhoon, rainstorm seriously threatened people's life and wealth. So, estimating efficiently all the horizontal streamline of storms on CAPPI can be of great importance for tracking, supervising and putting out alarm signals of storm. One of the main functions of Doppler radar as detecting microweather and mesoscale weather is using radar to detect strong storm and to make forthcoming weather forecast. This article introduced the synoptic of storm weather, the common characteristic of convection cell and its developing condition, the radar echoes of the convection storm and also it summarized the weather gist for estimating the whole storm horizontal streamline on CAPPI. This article based on the method TREC (tracking radar echoes by correlation) requiring information from one single radar at two different observation times to estimate horizontal storm streamline field on CAPPI, and the entire echo field can be extrapolated. For it used reflectivity intensity of radar, this method can not only used on common radar but also on Doppler radar. The continuity change of radar echo intensity shows the cloud moves with the wind. This means that the change of radar echo intensity contains the wind message. Especially in short time interval the cloud moving was the result that the wind drives it. This information was important for reversing wind field. Using TREC method on typhoon and rainstorm, the result shows that it was helpful for nowcasting weather forecast. When used on clear air boundary, the effects of large ground targets can be controlled by adjusting the correlation coefficient threshold. But small isolated targets are not so easily treated.We designed the algorithm with Visual C++6.0 advanced program language on windows 2000 or windows XP operating system. The whole algorithm designing based on TREC method and made a little improvement such as data flatness processing, cressman correcting and so on.
