Based on the basic equations of the elastic plane problem, displacement fields and singular stress fields near the interfacial edge of bonded materials are obtained.Based on the brittle fracture criterion for V-notches, the strain energy density factor criterion, the distortional strain energy density factor criterion, the circumferential tensile stress criterion and the circumferential tensile strain criterion for interfacial edge of bonded materials are given. They can be perfectly applied in engineering, because they are described only by two elementary parameters of the material: the tensile strength σc and the plane strain crack toughness K10c.In order to verify these criterions, tensile experiments are carried out for several kinds of samples made out of plexiglas and aluminium, and the compare is done between theoretical prediction and the experiment results for the directions of crack orientation and the critical loads. The results show that the directions of crack orientation predicted by the above criterions coincide with the experiment results. However, except circumferential tensile stress criterion, the critical loads predicted by the other criterions do not coincide with the experiment results.
