This thesis is relied on the subject "Research of Reservoir characteristics On the Paleozoic of Western foreland Area in Ordos Basin" and it's guiding ideology is the sedimentology theory, the study of non-marine reservoir, the new achievements and the new understandings of the international exploration of oil and gas fields, and based on areal geology, rock-core, well logging data, experimental data etc. and studies the Sedimentary & Reservoir characteristics On the upper Paleozoic of Western foreland Area in Ordos Basin with "Integrated, Dynamic, Comprehensive".On the base of the studied results of structural feature , sedimentary microfacies, Reservoir Characteristics , diagenesis. It's suggested that several provenances controlled the region of interest, the provenance come from Yinshan paleo-land in the north, Alashan paleo-land in the north-west, Liupanshan Paleo-land in south-west, And Qinlian-Qinling paleo-land in the south. All these point out that the different proposes is one of the control factors to the sand distribution. The major depositional systems of Shanxi formation include meandering stream, river dominated delta and lacus, and Xiashihezi formation include meandering stream braided stream, braided delta and lacus. After a large number of core description, observing, and experimental data, it indicated that the high mineral and low textural maturity for the reservoir sand-bodies near the source area. The main diagenesis in the studied area included the compaction & pressolution, cementation, infilling , dissolution and clay mineral transform, it brings forward that the sedimentation is the important factor of influencing reservoir property, meanwhile, they are the key factors to control the preservation of original pores and the development of secondary pores in sandstone reservoir. There are three types of reservoir formation in this area and the types of I is the favorable ones by the comprehensive research and evaluation. II and III are the better, and the IV is the objectionable .
