Spatial information is important for our society, but its multiformity, distribution and diversity make it very difficult to share spatial information inevitably. At present, spatial information resources on the web are only semi-structural, what's more, they are short of semantic information, but the query mode based on keyword is far from meeting the demand of users. Semantic web can provide machine-accessible data with structural and semantic properties by modeling domain knowledge and expressing data semantically, thus include and deduct new information, and then realize information sharing at semantic level, lastly offer intellective, intelligent and personalized services.In order to introduce the thought of semantic web into spatial information sharing, the main issues and reasons on the current spatial information sharing system are analyzed firstly in this paper, then the framework of building spatial information semantic web is brought forward. And its structure and key techniques are analyzed, then a kind of basic description language for semantic web—OWL is studied emphatically.Spatial information sharing is implemented by applying domain ontology in semantic web. In view of the characteristics of spatial information, the method of building spatial information domain ontology is presented emphatically, and then the process of forming domain concepts and their semantic relations are discussed in detail, finally spatial information domain ontology is established.The model of spatial information sharing system based on semantic web is devised according to the situation that the current web resources are described by XML document mostly, and then the key technology of implementing its primary function module are analyzed. The information sharing at semantic level is realized in the end.After the process and method of exploiting spatial information domain ontology are studied, spatial information is described semantically with ontology in this paper, and the structural management of saving domain ontology in relational database by using XML technology isrealized, which can be as a reference to build spatial information semantic web and lay a foundation for realizing the spatial information at semantic level.
