This paper mainly describes data quality, and analyses the topology relations of vector topographic map and edge combining in detail. It compares some algorithmic methods, and brings forward the scheme and the matters that should be paied attention to in practice. The scheme has already been applied to the software of large-scale vector topographic data's quality controlling and managing. The scheme has been proves reasonable and reliable.(1) This paper introduces the characters of large-scale vector topographic data quality, and analyses the evaluation contents of data quality, and discusses the errors of large-scale GIS data, and points out that the quality control's contents of vector topographic map should include the errors of topology relations and data redundancy.(2) This paper analyses and compares the algorithms of repeated features, repeated points' deletion, of small folds' disposing, of curves' reducing, of crossing surfaces' checking, etc. At the same time, this paper introduces the flow of edges' combine checking in detail.(3) Firstly, this paper discusses the index graph of edge combining, the buffer of edge combining, the parameters' setting of edge combining, and the attribute's checking of edge combining, etc. Then it analyses the reasons of the errors in edge combining, and compares some methods of edge combining. Lastly it sets forth the flow of edge combining.(4) This paper also introduces the functions of the software and the general flow according to the functions. The software can checking and deal with vector topographic data automatic and rapidly. The software can improve the efficiency of data quality's checking and modifying greatly, and the checking results can be classified, statisticed, analyzed, and located on map, and the software has the flexible interface of person -machine's interaction.
