With the advantage of the sensitivity, accumulation and economical property, biological monitoring had already become a kind of necessary supplement for thetraditional water quality supervision method. In the past, carps' organs, muscle andbones were used to be the research objects. Otoliths, as a kind of typical vital mineral, recorded a lot of information about environment and life , which included the historytransformation of the lakes and reservoirs, accumulative effect of the lowconcentration pollutant so it could write down the environmental informationautomatically and backward the polluted history.Applied the Thermoluminescence, Nuclear Active Analysis, AtomicFluorescence Spectrum , Plasma Spectrum and Plasma Mass Spectrum synthetically, this article take the lead in using the carps' otoliths as target organ to monitor thewater quality of the Baiyangdian Lake, Miyun Resevoir and Lianhuanhu Lake. Theresult show that it exists obvious correlation between the elements in the otoliths andin the different waters , furthermore the abundance of the elements in the otolithshigher than in the waters which supply the solid research basement for monitoringwater quality using otoliths.Thermoluminescence results show that all carps' otoliths have two illuminantpeaks: the first gently shape ones are the low temperature peak which focus on the288~389℃ and the half width mainly covered between 33~54℃;the secondprotruded shape ones are the high temperature peaks which are located between351~481℃ and the half width are between 351~481℃. The maximum value of peaksand the half width are in the Baiyangdian region, which is contributed to the manykinds and high value of the elements in the water. While the maximum illuminatevalue is in the Lianhuan Lake which respond highly to the concentration of theelements in the water, such as: Na, Sr, As and Zn. The correlative analysis of theotoliths' thermoluminescence result show that half width and peak point is related tothe subgroup element,Lanthanide and actinium elements highly. In addition, theabove parameters are also influenced by the age of the carps and size, weight of theotoliths. Therefore, when do some correlation researches of the thermoluminescenceof the otoliths you should try your best to choice the same age carps.
