As the combination of Data Warehouse and GIS, Spatial Data Warehouse is large database designed to support the needs of decision making. The emergence of Spatial Data Warehouse extends the scope of the applications of GIS and supports the research on global change, development of region and complex analysis of commerce. It is necessary to make systemic cognize and external holds of the problem of resources and environment for realizing continual development of region. The artificial satellite and computer technology provide abundant data for the research of resources and environment. There are many different types of data which is from different application fields. And they have both time and space character. Spatial data warehouse technology can be used to standardize, abstract, and integrate seismic data, and then organize it according to different decision-making themes. It also can help to make decisions for managing resources and environment, so the department can authentically use decision making tools to obtain and analyze data from information pool of resource and environment. Thus it can offer service for country and region at decision-making on resource and environment.In this paper, based on resource and environment data of Guangdong province, using SQL language, SQL Server database with the groupware of data warehouse, and ArcSDE, author has made research on building a spatial data warehouse on resource and environment, and has tried to build landuse data warehouse. The main work of this paper includes: coordinate and analyze data source, import source data into SQL Server database, analyze the theme, select multi-dimension data model and data storage type, design and create dimension table and fact table, abstract, transform and load data, exhibit the analyzed result of data, and so on. The work of this paper can offer some reference sense to the building of spatial data warehouse, which is a part of the project of "The Building of Resource and Environment Information System in Guangdong Province".
