The Design And Realization Of Electronic Atlas Based On Extended-Catalog Structure Model

With the development and popularization of computer technology, electronic atlas which is usually called "popular GIS" has been applied widely in more and more fields. Electronic atlas is generally welcome because of its all-around contents, lively style and plenty of expression methods. There is so much information in it that one electronic atlas will not be used effectively if it isn't well organized. This is a key to set up a convenient, rapid and efficient structural model in electronic atlas.This thesis analyses several common structural models of electronic atlas, discusses specially the model of map coverage and that of map group. According to the excellences of these models, this paper puts forward a new partition method by which the electronic atlas can be divided into 3 page types, including the function page, the explanation page and the map page, and an extended-catalog structural model is also discussed. At last, the extended-catalog model is applied in several applicational cases.
