Development Of Physical Experiment Platform For Digital Linear Swelling Coefficient

It is a general but important physical phenomenon that Object swells when it is heated and shrinks when it is cooled. Especially to metal, the research of this phenomenon is very important in the manufacture of mechanics, exact instrument, architectonics, etc. So measuring metal's linear swelling coefficient is a very important basal experiment to science students.This paper narrates the developing digital linear swelling coefficient physical experiment platform. This platform uses C8051F320 device of CYGNAL as main control chip which is fully integrated mixed-signal System-on-a-Chip MCUs, and AT89C51 MCU as silicon control triggering control chip. The system is composed of small-signal amplification module, room temperature acquisition module, LCD module,main control panel key scanning module, external memory storage module, silicon control triggering module, miniature printer module, etc. This paper introduces designs, manufacture and debugging of all the modules in detail, including hardware circuit design and software program.The system has three principal characters.They are LCD manipulation interface of perfect function, completing independently entire procedure of linear swelling coefficient measurement and providing miniature printer. Intermediate data and results of physical experiment can be output objectively through the printer. So the experiment platform can objectively reflect student's finished situation about the physical experiment. It can not only culture student's ability of independent experiment, but also exploit student's subjective initiative. It is a very important device that makes physical experiment have a tendency of digitalization and systematization.In addition, this platform has interfaces of RS-232 and USB, so it can be connected with PC. The whole procedure of physical experiment can be accomplished on the PC platform.
