With the technologies of mobile positioning, the combination of wireless communication, Internet and embedded system leads a new application chance for to traditional GPS (Global Positioning System) in technical domain, i.e. differential GPS positioning based on Internet. With such combined technology, Internet-based GPS positioning techniques arise and develop widely. The characters of being convenient to Internet and movable storage for Pocket PC mobile make it possible to realize GPS positioning via Internet, with which the users can obtain the location where they are and enjoy LBS anytime and anywhere. Also the users can communicate their location information with a server of GPS base station and exchange messages with other users. The application of GPS positioning via Internet can be put to use widely.Firstly, in this thesis, the characters of embedded system and programming on embedded system are presented, and the key technology of real time GPS positioning being reviewed. The author also analyzes the possibility and the application foreground of real time GPS positioning via Internet. The implementation of real time GPS positioning over Internet consists of a GPS base station, a server used for distributing GPS data, a wireless communication system, a mobile equipment for receiving data of both GPS raw observations and messages from the base. A brief presentation of technologies correlative with real time GPS positioning via Internet is given in the paper, such as GPS real time positioning technology, embedded system, mobile positioning and wireless communication technology. The author also introduces particularly the design and implement of real time GPS positioning over Internet, which adopts modularization design. The whole system is divided into two comparatively unaided modules, which are base station module and rover station module. The base station module includes receiving GPS data module from receiver, socket module for transmitting real time positioning data, and the rover station module includes data receiving module from Internet on PPC, data sending to GPS port module on PPC and data receiving from GPS module. The designs and functions of each module, the test and analysis of the result are presented in the chapter 3 and chapter 4. Also the...
