A high-altitude nuclear explosion releases large quantities of energetic particles and electromagnetic radiation capable of producing ionization in atmosphere .These particles and rays radiation character transporting in the atmosphere are discussed .Additional ionization due to x rays,γrays, neutrons andβparticles deriving from explosion are considered separately. Computational equations of ionization which results from split-second and long-playing nuclear radiation are summarized and verified. Simplifying the interactions between these particles and atmosphere, integral and approximate computational parameters are concluded. For the x rays andγrays, according to the newer bases of interaction cross section, named EPDL97,attenuation coefficient and absorption coefficient in the range of energy concerned are concluded after related computations, further, faithful computational parameters for the more precise physical model are afforded. The time-space distribution of electron density from nuclear explosion is computed and its characteristic is discussed .In the case of several approximations, after analyzing the ionization-compound mechanism, we discuss time-dependent characteristics of additional ionization, develop related equations simultaneously, and make process for numerical value account, then curve of the time-dependent additional ionization resulting from nuclear explosion is obtained. At last, absorption, reverberation and refraction of radio waves caused by the existence of additional ionization region are computed.
