After the universities recruit more students than the other years, of which the most prominent one is the loss of study interest and the decrease of performance.Many factors caused this situation.One of the cause from the teachinh strategy perspective is the neglect of individual difference,and their different need for different teaching method and content,so the teaching pattern emphasing only the teaching unity should be changed.And multi-level teaching reform is a strategy to change the situation.The reform is based on the optimization theory according to which every link and aspect in the teaching process should be optimized.It's goal is to seek for the optimum development for every student with different math abilities.The ultimate goal is to improve teaching quality.So in the process of the reform, guard against lowered requirement for students. Also multi-level teaching goals and teaching evaluation system should be established for this purpose.Students should be granted the right to choose their math learning based on their interest and future need so that their potentials can be cultivated.The reform would create the most suitable environment for every student, enabling them to learn math to their need, enabling them to feel improved and endeavored for perfection.In the process of carrying out the reform,the students were first of all divided into three levels according to different educational training goals,and then their proportions and their starting teaching points were identified.And three corresponding goals were established for the three levels stating the three different basic teaching requirement,basic skills and math abilities they should reach. Based on the three goals different teaching method and strategies are employed. Correspondingly multi-level evaluation and testing system were established. The experiment with the students of 2005 grade was carried out in this light.The result showed that the students of 2005 had obviously raised paasing rate,heightened math interest and better attitude than the students of 2005. Nevertheless there was still room for improvement for the experiment.
