Laser Tracker System is one of the measuring instruments for large dimensions in the industrial measuring system, which is famous for its high precision, high efficiency, real-time dynamic tracking measurement and easy to be moved or installed. It has been widely used in aviation, space, airplane, shipbuilding and precise measurement industry and testing departments. In this paper, we do some research in the application and theory of Laser Tracker System in the 3D-Segment measurement as well as in other different industrial fields.We work with the instrument of LTD600 introduced by Shanghai metro-shield Machine Equipment & Engineering CO., LTD, concentrating on discussing the basic principle and components of Laser Tracker System, and the mathematical model of the dynamic tracking measurement technology, and the procedure of the segment installation and detection, and the factors which affect the dynamic measurement. In the Visual Basic6.0 and Matlab environment, a 3D scanning data post-process software is developed. The transferred 3D-coordinates captured by Laser Tracking System on the segment are processed using the methods of plane or surface fitting, shifting correction, data analysis, and report export to illuminate the feasibility of the Laser Tracker System in the 3D-Segment Measurement.
