By the technology of 3-D seismic developing, there should be higher precision in coal seismic exploration. According to the requirement of coal mine construction, it's necessary to survey the faultage which drop is between 3 meters to 5 meters in the coal exploration. To solve this problem by 3-D seismic exploration, except the research of data acquisition with high precision and process with high resolving power, we should enhance the fine interpretation of the coal seismic data.At present, most of the coal 3-D seismic data interpretation is continued to use the traditional clue that suits for 2-D seismic exploration. This clue is based on the seriate time section, through the comparison of the reflected wave's change, such as time, amplitude, phase, so we can ascertain the horizon and faultage, then solve the structure problem through the planar combination. It's an apparent disadvantage of the traditional clue that we can't make full use of the 3-D data, so we often make mistakes in geological structure judgement, especially in faultage interpretation, the interpreter need a lot of geological experience, there is no effective and external method.The paper select the first exploitation area of Huoerxinhe mine at the west side of Changzhi basin middle of the Taihang mountains as the example to do some applied research about fine interpretation of the coal 3-D seismic data. The interpretation procedure is the combination of the 3-D visualization and traditional method, also make full use of the 3-D coherence cube to ascertain the faultage and the caved column. Through the dynamic display and opacity of the visualization, we can control the structural attitude of the bed of interest in whole exploration area. According to the well data and time section, we can demarcate the coal horizon. Through artificial comparison, at first we can make the structural framework of the whole exploration area, then trace the small faultage or structure in small grids. We can observe the justifiability of the interpretation through the visualization of themiddle interpretation outcome, so it can be used to guide the interpretation plan.In the sample of Huoerxinhe mine 3-D seismic interpretation, the 3-D visualization and 3-D coherence cub technology is very effective in interpretation process. The combination of 3-D visualization and seismic attributes and traditional interpretation method can advance the interpretation precision and efficiency.
