The basic object of seismic exploration is to measure different seismic waves stimulated by artificial seismic source by having a necessary process, interpretation with seismic data. So we can extract the required geological information. And characteristic of seismic wavefield contain some valuable information such as geological structures. So it is necessary for us to identify and research characteristic of seismic wavefield. Cross-well seismic is a unique seismic method of prospecting which is stimulated under a well and received under another well. And seismic recordings of cross-well seismic are more complicate than ones of conventional seismic methods. So it is important to identify kinds of waves and research seismic response characteristic of them. Forward simulation provides theoretical foundations with acquisition, processing, interpretation of data, and it can efficiently analyze characteristic of cross-well seismic wavefield.In this paper, we mainly study the numerical forward stimulation of cross-well seismic, systematacially introduce forward simulation methods about ray tracing and wave equation of cross-well seismic, compile the responding codes of ray tracing forward simulation by Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, detailedly analyze the seismic response characters of numerical model of cross-well seismic with two means. And forward simulation provides necessary foundations with visible wave field identification and data inversion of seismic exploration. And we obtain some results: 1) conclude a method of cross-well forward model by ray tracing method based on VSP forward simulation.2) write the program of ray tracing forward simulation by Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0.3) make numerical simulation calculations of two ray tracing models of cross-well seismic by the compiled program; make numerical simulation calculations of cross-well seismic model including a wedge and a mound by Tesseral. At the last, we acquired valid simulation data.
