The nacre is known by people's attention for a long time which is one of the general construction units of mollusk shell. With the development of advanced science means and methods, they are provided to insight into pearl-culture and fabrication of advanced organic-inorganic composite materials. At first, a brief study about growth structure of the nacre all over the world is reviewed. At present, there are two mechanisms of the nacreous layer theories. One is template theory (was brought forward by Weiner in 1984, which emphasized on the manipulative effect of organic matrix in molecular scale and was the widest influential theory), the other one is mineral bridge theory (was brought forward by Shaffer T.E in 1997, which emphasized on the oriented effect of aragonite crystallites ). The study insight and orientation of 21th century will let us know the formation of the nacre from genic control, combining the molecular biology and biomineralization. It will discuss that the biomineralization effect of organic matrix how to lead calcium carbonate to nucleating growth and orientating crystal for formation of the nacre, and how to influence the final structure of the nacre including morphology, size, orientation, and how to study the biologic environment for biomineralization, and how to establish the model growth of the nacre, etc. Before detailed study, with the Gemological Microscope, we have observed the surface spiral growth structure and concentric round of surface layer of pteria penguin and blister pearl from Lucoral & Lupea Ltd, Sanya, Hainan Province(The same morphology have been reported from other seawater shells and pearls ago), including the samples of Pinctada magaritifera, Pinximatada maxima, golden Pearl Oyster, Pinctada martensi (coming from Sanya, Hainan)and corresponding cultured pearls. So far, the nacre being of the spiral growth structure has not been studied in China and abroad. The mechanism of the nacreous layer theories (template theory, mineral bridge theory, BCFspiral growth theory and PBC crystal growth theory, etc) and biomineralization, could not completely explain the mechanism of spiral growth structure of the nacre.
