Seawater intruding into groundwater layer caused by the drop of freshwater level of earth is a worsening phenomenon of environmental geology named seawater intrusion. It is an artificial disaster induced by human's social activities in coastal cities. The long-term co-operation of many environmental factors of nature and society has resulted in seawater intrusion, and the most direct causes are sustained lowering of groundwater level and severe deficiency of rainfall. In recent years, most of coastal cities in china have been up against seawater intrusion to some extend, and even seawater intrusion has affected the national economy and the people's livelihood. So it is no time to delay to prevent and control the seawater intrusion of coastal cities.Seawater intrusion mechanism and its 3D numerical simulation are further explored and researched in this paper. On the basis of the classical theory of fluid mechanics, it built the ideal model of seawater intrusion, and attained the speed in flow field which gradually decreased along with the increasing distance of curvature center along the principal normal in the course of seawater intrusion. According to the speed distribution on fluid line, the speed and the direction of seawater intrusion can be ascertained in some terms. Migration mechanism of fresh-saline groundwater transition zone(interface) based on the theory of seepage and dispersion coupling, the dispersion and the seepage are regarded as the opposed factor, and it analyzed their superposition relationship in physics. The seawater intrusion essence on the whole course which consisted of balance breaking and balance rebuilding between seepage and dispersion, supplies the theoretical basis for the dynamic development analysis of seawater intrusion.It relies on GMS(Groundwater Modeling System) and its main module FEMWATER (Finite Element Groundwater Flow Modeling Software) developed by The U.S. research laboratory of environmental model in Brigham Young University and the ., Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station.
